Just 24 hours after OKGOP Vice Chair, Mike Turner, publicly called for a special meeting of the OKGOP Budget Committee. Chairman David McLain finally called the committee into their 2nd meeting of the new administration.
On Friday night, November 1st, the committee will meet at the State GOP headquarters, in OKC.  Several party members are asking that a budget be presented to the presiding State Committee of the OKGOP as soon as possible, to restore some trust with donors about proper spending.
The party chairman divulged to KFAQ radio that more than $16,000 of credit card debt has amassed, including 2 east coast trips to National party meetings where McLain had the OKGOP pay for his wife & a staffer to come along. The OKGOP does not normally pay for these unnecessary expenses and in fact requires that the two Oklahoma Committee members, (Steve Curry & Carolyn McLarty) to pay for their own travel, lodging, & meals; for these meetings.
The budget committee was supposed to be active by early June, to propose a budget and authorize sending when the State Committee held their Summer meeting (usually in late June).
But the committee members were still being recruited last August, and only met for the first time, just "two nights prior" to the August meeting.
The membership of the Budget Committee is still not published, despite assurances that it would be.  Some members' inclusion is in question, and Chairman Gary Jones has told SoonerPolitics that he stepped down from the Chairmanship of the group, but is willing to stay on as a member.
